Sistem informasi wisata adalah sistem informasi yang dibangun untuk memenuhi kebutuhan informasi wisatawan. Informasi dibedakan menjadi tiga bagian yaitu informasi sebelum perjalanan, informasi saat perjalanan dan informasi setelah perjalanan. Sebuah sistem informasi wisata yang baik harus dapat menyediakan informasi dari keseluruhan bagian tersebut. Dalam bagian pertama wisatawan merencanakan merencanakan perjalanan, tempat yang dikunjungi, apa yang ingin dilakukan, dan informasi yang ingin diperoleh. Untuk penyediaan informasi, Sistem Informasi Geografis (SIG) merupakan alat bantu yang tepat untuk menangani masalah ini. SIG menggunakan Google Maps API memiliki kemampuan untuk menyediakan informasi dan menampilkan dalam bentuk peta. SIG dapat menyediakan informasi seperti objek wisata, restoran, akomodasi, dan lainnya, jalan yang menghubungkan tempat-tempat tersebut, maupun deskripsi tentang tempat dan jalan. Dengan kemampuan SIG menggunakan Google Maps API, wisatawan mempunyai panduan yang cepat dan akurat untuk membantu perjalanan di kota Padang.
Travel information system is an information system that is built to meet the information needs of travelers. Information is divided into three parts, namely the information before the trip, while traveling information and information after the trip. A good travel information system must be able to provide information of the entire section. In the first part of the plan travelers plan trips, places to go, what to do, and information to be obtained.For the provision of information, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is an appropriate tool to deal with this problem. GIS uses the Google Maps API has the ability to provide information in the form and display the map. GIS can provide information such as attractions, restaurants, accommodations, and other roads connecting these places, as well as descriptions of places and roads.With GIS capability using Google Maps API, travelers have a quick and accurate guide to help drive in the city of Padang
